Big doins in the crab tank tonight. It's been quite warm here, which the crabs like, so they've been trundling all over the tank getting exercise. I've been cleaning out the corners that they most like to congregate in, and as soon as I put the little guys in one area they come right back to see what I am doing in the corner they got removed from. I ended up putting an old towel down in the bathtub, plugging the drain and putting them in there. In no time they had burrowed into various folds of the towel and made a little crab town.
After I got it cleaned out, I put fresh food and water in, scooped the sand around to create a beachy atmosphere, making little humps and bumps for them to move around. Then I sliced up a fresh red seedless grape and tucked the slices into the food dish. I put the little guys back in first.
Antennas waving, they made their way to the treat. One grabbed a slice and carried it off to a corner, to have all to himself. Two shared a bit, and the fourth one tried to prise the slice off the one in the corner, to no avail. I guided him back to the dish and let him have his own piece.
The two big ones came in next and they immediately knew there was a treat. Luckily I had the foresight to slice up another grape, and gave them each their own half. One took his slice off to the water dish so he could bathe and eat at the same time. The other one speared his treat and took it off to his corner.
Grapes in the crab world must be some good stuff.

Watching my two big crabs trying to get into the corner at the same time is very funny. Like bulky chess pieces trying to checkmate each other, they crawl over and around one another trying to push who ever is in the corner...out.
And they usually end up snuggled side by side. I say usually, as one sometimes grumps off to the other corner and sits all alone for a spell. Some of the little crabs will come and sit with the big one, all worried as to why both big ones aren't together. And it isn't too long before the big one shuffles back to the opposite corner and all is well once more.

I was watching my crabs this morning while I was getting ready for work. Last week, one of the little ones changed to a bigger shell, and today, another little one was checking the empty shells out.
As I watched, he stretched waaaaaaaaaay into the empty shell, head first, to check it out and see what the inside feels like (they tend to prefer smooth insides and nothing too rough). All of a sudden along comes the biggest crab to see what the little one is up to.
The little one sees the big one approach, and he grabs the shell he was checking out and makes off with it! He thought the big guy was gonna take his shell. The sight of that little crab dragging that empty shell to a far corner was quite funny. Turns out the big guy was merely on his way to the food dish, and wasn't interested in the little crab at all.
Honestly, sometimes they are so human.

I should use your idea of observing crab, to bring a relaxing moment into the soul. Those are creatures that are not so lucky in the wild. Is better for them to be in a tank, where there will be no net.
